Dr Stuart MacLennan joined Coventry Law School in 2016. He studied for his LLB and Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh, his LLM at the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde (jointly), and his PhD at Trinity College, University of Dublin. Before arriving at Coventry, Stuart taught at both Trinity College and the China-EU School of Law in Beijing.

Stuart specialises in the interface between public law and business, with particular expertise in taxation law and EU law. Stuart’s research has been published in leading law journals, and he has supervised several PhDs to completion.

Stuart is the Law School’s delegate to the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA). Stuart is Editor of the Irish Journal of European Law, Editor of the Coventry Law Journal, and Production Editor of the European Journal of Legal Education.

In November 2025, Stuart was appointed to the Disciplinary Commission and Arbitral Board of the Union Cycliste Internationale.
